The short version: your pin is public, everything else is not
Privacy
This club runs on trust, so here is exactly what we keep and what the world can see — in plain English, because that is how we would want it explained to us.
What we ask for when you join
Your first and last name, your email address, your ZIP code, and your height. Optionally: a display name, a photo, and your Facebook name if you want a group invite. Real names are required so the club stays what it says it is — a club for real women 5 FT & Under. If a question ever comes up about an application, we may follow up by email to confirm the details you provided — we do not ask for a photo ID or any government document.
What the public can see
One pin on the Members map, carrying your display name (or first name) and your town and state — plus a gold star if you are one of the club's first hundred Members. That is the entire public record. Your surname, email address, exact ZIP code, height, and photo are never shown to the public, and the public map cannot be searched by name.
What other Members can see
Members who are signed in can open a Member directory. It lists the same things the public map shows — display name, town and state — for every Member. Your real name and your photo appear there only if you switch them on yourself, in your profile. They are two separate switches, both of them start off, and turning either one off takes it down again straight away. Nothing else from your record is ever shown to another Member: not your email address, ZIP code, height, or Facebook name. Those stay with club administrators.
Where your details live
In the club's own database, hosted on Google Firebase, on servers in the United States. Only club administrators can read Member records. We use Google Firebase to store this data and Google Analytics to understand site traffic — both act only as service providers on our behalf and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes. We do not sell or rent the member list, and we do not share it with any other organization, advertiser, or third party for their own use.
We use your address for a confirmation when you join, sign-in links for your profile, and club news like meet-up alerts. Club email comes from 5FTandunderclub@gmail.com. Reply to any of it and a person reads the answer.
Visits and cookies
The site uses Google Analytics to count visits so we know which pages matter. This tracks your browser or device — not your name — using cookies and similar technology, and it is never connected to your member record.
Leaving, any time
Sign in at your profile and remove yourself — your pin comes off the map and your record is deleted, no reason needed. Or email us and we will do it for you, promptly, because it is your information.
